First off, I don't cry during movies. I'm not sure if its a pride thing, but I just don't. I've encountered lots of movies that are 'sad' and 'weepy', yet, they've never made me shed a tear. At the most, Toy Story 3 made my vision a little blurry, but I'll do that movie later. So anyway, when I heard that this movie was more of a drama than a comedy, and was really 'heartwarming' (I hate that word) I was hesitant to watch it, because my favorite thing to do is laugh. But, I gave in and watched it.
When I think of Seth Rogen I don't think of drama, so I'd have to say his performance really surprised me. Not only was he funny, but he quite pleasantly showed a more emotional side that was really convincing. 50/50 was un-expectantly funny and had tons of awkward real-life moments that made me feel closer to the characters. Then coming up on the end, when Joseph Gordon-Levitt's character, Adam, is on the operating table, and he suddenly freaks out, well, thats the part. The part where reality hit him, and where something hit me. Although he had put on such a cool facade throughout all the rest of his illness, he realized he might not make it out the surgery alive. I honestly don't even know what it was, but it got me. Dang it, two freaking tears rolled down my cheeks. Curse you, on making me feel so connected to a freaking movie.
